If you live in North America, there is no doubt you will have a run-in with pests this summer. The continent really comes alive in the summer and pests are busy securing food energy to make it through another winter. The days are longer, warmer and wetter, which means insects thrive.
So, what are the pests you are most likely to encounter this summer? We have created a list in order:
1. Ant – There are several kinds of ants you may run into. The most common in North America are sugar ants and fire ants. The black sugar ant will search high and low for a sweet food source and heave forbid if they find one because they will seemingly never go away.
2. Roaches – These little scavengers will inevitably make their way in at some point. They can get in through your door if left open even for a few seconds. Heck, they can even make their way in through the pipes in your home. Roaches are a major nuisance around the globe.
3. Mosquitoes – This flying insect will set up shop all around your home. The female mosquito is responsible for the painful bites you receive. The mosquito is the most deadly creature on the planet because of how much disease they have spread.
4. Rodents – Mice and rats can make a home in your walls, attic or basement. They will seek shelter from storms in the places in your home where they are less likely to have an encounter with you. Steve from pest control in Rockledge FL said this “Often times people don’t even know they have rats or mice until they finally have to go into the attic to repair or retrieve something. They then discover the nest.”
5. Wasps or Hornets – Flying stinging insects will probably try to build a nest on or near your home this summer. The best plan of attack is to spray the nest at night when all the wasps are resting. Then you should immediately return indoors and make sure your doors and windows are closed in case you missed any. They will all be gone by morning.
